"A lot of people don't even see themselves working in this industry because they don't feel welcome," he reflected. "There's the fact that there are hardly any stories of African American females who have successfully navigated the industry on their own. African american culture representation is woefully under-represented."

As a white artist undertaking this specific work, Mebarak has struggled with how to tackle and break down barriers for people of color and techniques he's encountered during his journey.

"The most exciting thing for me to do as a producer, I believe it to be supporting people," he emphasized strongly "People, you know, supporting others when I could be easily 'improving' another song or follow a track. Everything I did in this business from an hour ago has been solved already, correct me. Team work skills."
