Groce Funeral Home was founded in 1890 by Thomas Groce, who recognized the need for a chapel in the area. Over time, the funeral home relocated to its current location on Germantown Road, where it expanded its facilities to accommodate a growing demand for services. In 1976, the funeral home became a member of the Sanders-McShea Funeral Home, and in 2012, it merged with Sanders Funeral Chapel. These changes allowed Groce Funeral Home to expand its reach and offer a wider range of services to the Memphis community.

In 2014, Jeremy and Holly Groce purchased the funeral home from Sanders Funeral Chapel, carrying on the Groce name and legacy. The couple brought their own vision and expertise to the funeral home, enhancing its services and further solidifying its place in the Memphis community.
